
Not only is the product just right, so is the ambience. In the legendary beer gardens, traditional costumes mingle with blue jeans and suits, old and young sit together and the taste buds get their money’s worth in “Brez’n und Radi“ [pretzels and white radish]. At their busiest on fine days, the beer gardens are where people meet.P> Of course, it all revolves around the most important thing – the barley and wheat juice, as the beer is jokingly called – traditional dark beer or lager which goes down very well and for which the full measure often refers to more than just the litre beer glasses! | | There is the heavy bock beer, originally made by the monks to tide them over Lent, and the typical weiss beer, which was still virtually unknown outside Bavaria as little as a generation ago, although its popularity as a refreshing summer drink extends far beyond the state borders today. 
Also called “Weizenbier” [wheat beer] on account of the high proportion of wheat malt, the light-coloured yeast in this top-fermented speciality floats on the brewer’s copper, hence the name “weiss” beer [white beer]. | |
